Makers Market Welcomes All

LiveNF Makers Market Welcomes All

Guest View By: Phil Mohr, LiveNF President

As the holiday season begins, let’s celebrate local creativity and shop small. LiveNF welcomes everyone to the Markets Market Presented by the Niagara Falls National Heritage Area on Small Business Saturday, November 30, 2019, 11 am to 5 pm, at the Niagara Falls Conference Center. The event is free to the public.

We are proud to be hosting 120 unique vendors and makers, with a majority of them calling  Niagara County home. From hand crafted woodwork to alpaca apparel, there are many eclectic options to choose from. In addition to being our creative neighbors, these vendors represent the impact of shopping local. According to a 2018 study, 67 cents of every dollar spent at a small business stays in the community. Which mean when you shop small, it can make a big impact.

Many organizations came together to create a diverse event for all ages. Thanks to the Niagara Falls National Heritage Area, the LiveNF Makers Market will feature seven musical guests throughout the day, including Jamie Holka, the Buffalo Jazz Collective and the Niagara River Iroquois Dancers as well as live art sessions by Tricia Butski and Fritz Proctor. The 1199 Health Education is sponsoring a Western New York Book Arts Center Letterpress Workshop and a canvas painting session with Tyshaun Tyson for the kids.  The Niagara Falls Conference Center assistance in hosting the expanded market is also making the day possible, and food and beverage options will be available on site.

The Niagara Falls Housing Authority is introducing the Kids Business Fair as part of the Makers Market. 20 young entrepreneurs have taken business classes and are ready to do business with you. The LiveNF Makers Market lead day-one of Jingle Falls USA with the tree lighting ceremony, fire work display and Old Falls Street Opening Party kicking off as the market ends at 5 pm. Parking in all surrounding downtown municipal lots and the ramp is free. While market admittance is free, we will also be accepting donations of new children’s’ hats, gloves and pajamas in support of Community Missions of Niagara Frontier and store bought bottled water in support of the Tuscarora Water Drive.

LiveNF launched the Makers Market in vacant Third Street storefronts in 2017 with 40 vendors. Our goal was to support local entrepreneur’s and create holiday memories for customers. With 140 makers/mini-makers in 2019, that goal remains the same as we expand the event’s vision with each passing year.  As an organization, LiveNF’s goal is to bring residents together through events, social media and shared experiences. We hope that the community will join us on Saturday, November 30th, 11 am – 5 pm at the Niagara Falls Conference Center. Let’s keep growing this Niagara Falls holiday tradition, together.
